What Is Wronge Transmission Or Computer?

Here is my problem, I can drive for about 10 minutes with no problems but after that my car goes into 3rd-4th-3rd-4th-3rd and gets stuck in 3rd no matter how fast or slow I go it doesn't come out of 3rd. The only way to make it work right is to turn the car off then start again(parked or still going). I also have a CEL and the errors are bad ratios on gear 2 and bad ratio on gear 4? Computer or transmission.
Also need to know if I could use a tranny ocmputre from a 97?

Have you ever neutral slammed it before? A friend of mine once was revving his Explorer in neutral and dropped it into Drive and it got stuck in 2nd gear.

For anyone have the same problem: I took my tib to a tranny shop and they said fourth gear is going out. The computer has a saftey feature that locks the transmission in third.
