Default What the hell is this??

Ok, I need some help. I'm tired of waiting for a CAI for the Auto Elantra, so i've started to map out and detail how I'm gonna try to make it, but there is one problem. There is a black box with hose attachments and a sensor on the drivers side of the car. Its located right before the wheel well cover. What does it do, can I take it out or can I move it?? If this is able to be moved I would have the ILL'est CAI...Thanks to the Zefiro kit, there is a nice big opening that would directly ram air into filter. So what can I do to get rid of that damn thing??

Any chance you could take a photo of that or post a photo of the engine bay from some other source?

If it is a the evap canister, then yes, it can be relocated just about anywhere you have room.

Or...if you use www.hmaservice.com, can you locate the component?

I heard its a PITA to relocate this canister.I went to my dealer and they refuse to do it,Cause they claim its alot of work. But i guess you can go to any shop and they can do it.
To be Honest i think its a waste of money to do this.Think about it how much more HP are you going to gain than to run a similar set up like Speedstate?
The advantage might be 1-2 HP by removing this canister but a waste of Time and money in my opinion.

It stores gas fumes from the gas tank in charcol when the car is not running, it then runs fresh air through to clean out the charcol and the "fumes" get burned in the combustion chamber.

You should be able to relocate it with no adverse effects, it is just finding the room in the engine bay to move it too that will be the problem.
