Clean off what you can with a wire brush, and go to the parts store. They will have two aerosol spray cans for you. Clean the residual corrosion with the cleaner spray, and then coat the parts with the protectant spray. Or just scrub it as clean as you can and slather it with Vaseline. It is possible the terminals will need to be replaced. This is not a Big Job, so don't let a mechanic juice you for it.

pour some coca-cola, pepsi, or other soda on it and it'll dissolve.
you'll need to get a wire brush to get extra off. Put grease on the terminals, inside the rings. Autozone also sells red and green little brillo pad circles that will keep the terminals from corroding so bad.
