Ok, I have the same exact stuff happening with my valve cover gasket. I have a new one from Kspec and I have a few questions since I'm going to do it myself to save money.

Any hazards or dangers I should know of before switching? Lubing, greasing the new gasket?

6lbs you say using a torque wrench?

Is it just a direct swap? How long should it take me?

It's easy to do, take off the 5 SP cover bolts and pull SP wires. Take off the 12 valve cover bolts all aroudn the valve cover (don't forget the one UNDER the SP cover near the timing belt side of the valve cover).

All you'll need is a 10mm socket and wrench...

Once all 18 bolts are off, slowly pull up on the valve gasket, try to avoid shoving something in their to pry it off, just be patient and if you have to just BARELY stick a flathead underneath and pry it up.

The old gasket is probably going to be all crusty on one side from wear and tear. Careful to peel it off in one piece so you don't have to sit there pulling out tiny pieces of gasket.

The new one, you can lube with some of the spare oil under the valve cover, or in your head. LOL
It just pushes right in, perfect fit around all holes and bends. Once that is in tighten down all bolts..

CAUTION:
When tightening Valve Cover and SP Cover bolts only go until you feel a resistance. DON'T go that extra turn until you can't tighten anymore.

I'll check today for you guys if it needs a special sealant. I work with a friend who used to work for Hyundai mechanics dealership. I would think so.

QUOTE (rd1tib @ Mar 9 2006, 10:01 PM)
Mine is doing to samething, im just letting it chill till i have money to fix it and my oil pan gasket.

There is no oil pan gasket, hyundai uses a special adhesive that is a b**** to get off. That stuff was pretty strong, and it damn well should be since its holding the blood of your engine. If your oil pan is leaking your going to need to take it off and clean every bit of adhesive off of the pan, and if its not too damaged you can just go get some RTV black silicone sealant. and put it in the recesses of the pan lining.

here is the reassembly directions from webtech, might not work if your not already signed in.
