So with the 02 Elantra tranny I won't have to worry about grinding abit of the back near the tranny mount?

And the cables should all be fine and not need any adjustment?

And my LSD and Clutch/Flywheel will work with all tranny's from 98-04?

Thanks For all the help keep it coming fing02.gif

you wont have to shave the 02 elantra tranny

from i remember.. the cables fit fine... and did not need to be adjusted

Your LSD will fit, your clutch will fit... the flywheel MIGHT. Remember the crank changed mid year in 99.

Actually, I believe that 3rd gear is a lot longer in beta2 cars. They shift to 4th around 90mph...

Beta2 tranny should be less agressive than beta1.

Go with new tiburon tranny.

So there still is a gearing difference between the 02 elantra tranny and 04 tiburon tranny even though they are both beta2's?

Also I talked to the scrap yard again and the 04 tiburon tranny has a dent/hole in the casepan. But they said there doesn't look to be any other damage and said I could return it if there is any problems when I open it up to install the LSD. So I right of the bat I would need a new case because the one from my tranny will not fit?

Either way my mechanic is good freinds with the workers from the scrap yard. He had a look at it and said it doesn't look like a big deal. And we will see if there is anyting when we crack it open.

What is the better tranny to go with hear 02 elantra or 04 tib?

I don't like the idea of having problems with the linkages.

I need some more opinions.

Thanks Guys

Jaws when you swapped in the 03 elantra tranny did you have to use the beta2 style flywheel?

Well I got the car back to town and got the tranny removed

Here is a pic of the tranny

And this is what happens when you boost in 5th gear haha.gif

I picked up an 02 Elantra tranny. It looks to be pretty much exactly the same except for a few small things.
I will post some more pics up in the next couple days of taking the Tranny apart and installing my LSD.

Hope yours are careful in 5th gear sad.gif
