Guys,
Yesterday i was driving my car hard.
From 2nd shifting 3rd all of a sudden the 3rd and 4th gear are loose.
And then i find i cant even use 1st gear.
There was no mechanical noise so i dont think its the gearbox.
I can engage 2nd, 5th and reverse though.

Any ideas

Sounds like the linkage on top of the transmission is loose.

Probably what DTN said, or your shifter bushings finally tore loose and are toast.

Look at the linkage ends in the engine bay, pull them off of the tranny assembly and see if the rubber is all torn up. Replace them with skateboard bearings, you might have to grind out a bit of material from the inside of the linkages to get them in, but you'll love it.

Check the rubber bushings under the shifter base inside the car too. These also tear up quite a bit and allow for a lot of unprecise shifting.

Also check your linkage to your shifter. I had mine loosen on me and the car would magically not find reverse.

That's the tranny side portion of the shifter linkage. That round thing in the picture is the transmission counterweight on the end of the shift selector lever. You need to check for what is loose between the shifter and the linkage on the transmission. If you simply do not have enough throw in a single direction, you can change that at the shifter mechanisim. If you are loose, find out what is loose and correct the problem.

Hey RedZ i dont have my camera on me so i could only do it with my cell phone in poor light condition.

Anyways i had a look and still cannot find out why the Counterweight moves Side to side easy.
And also how the shaft going into the gearbox is kept in there.
I know it is probably a pin but i cannot find a place.
