Throttle body's

Throttle body's
Well, 2.0 beta I throttle body's are becoming scarce, ecpecially 70mm big bore (as if most of you didn't already know that). That being said w/iceman putting there tb's on the back burner for who knows how long has anyone tried to adapt a different app. tb. As, i stated in my last thread i work at summit racing and well in my spare time i try to think of things we sell i could actually use (which is not much) but i have noticed that a 4.6 mustang throttle body pn# bbk-1700 is very sillimar in bolt pattern to the beta I w/the only difference being the top bolts need sucked in .25" closer to each other and the bottom bolts the same the tps sensor looks to match as well the only thing is there on opposite sides, but since the bolt pattern is symetricly square i don't see any reason why you couldnt flip it upside down to make it work. Let me know what you guys think

Hye, in all honesty that may be where we need to go. Other than Iceman, which seems to be a slow go cause it's only one guy, we have nothing for BBTB's at all. This might be a good idea.
Only problem I see is the TPS, it seems to be a fragile unit, especially on some of the older cars. I have heard of the unit fraying and falling apart and stuff. 02.gif So if we have to flip it over that may cause a problem. Also what about the throttle cable? we'd have to rig something up for that too, no???

not sure on that yet other than no more cruise control, but i can get the tb at my cost for under $150 so it might be worth it to use it as a guinea pig also here is a good pic to look at it from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33558

Yes, the mustang units work. Onpol was using a 70mm unit from a Rustang on his beta.
The TPS is unaffected by direction, you can rotate the TB 180 degree's to keep the TPS and Cables on the proper side.

Well, there are STILL BBTB's available, just not many. We are working on the issue at kspec.com to keep them coming in.
I'd like to get the stock measurements for the TB and do some measuring, of if anyone else can, we should start up a list of what's known to be a close fit, and what doesn't at all. I'm all about cheaper parts.
As for cruise, that's a known easy fix with TB's without the second armature. Either weld a second one on or just zip tie your cruise cable to your throttle cable.

Yeah, but how many and for how long? Tigerlilly is out of stock and NOT making any more Beta 1 TB's, as of about a month ago.
