So I am in the process of fixing my brothers Tiburon, and really just trying to get it back to factory performance. There is a check engine light on, being thrown from the O2 sensor, and I'm replacing both, along with the cat and headers. All of this is to fix that check engine light, and hopefully fix the absolute lack of power. Acceleration is So laggy and slow at 0-40mph. As I've been reading on here, lots of posts have come up about the TPS, and I was wondering if mine could be bad? It's an original 2000 unit, so I'm sure it should be repalced, and I am going to pick one up tomorrow. But for all you more familiar with them, could the ultra sluggish acceleration in the 0-40 mph range be from a bad TPS? Or maybe a conbination of that and the clogged cat & O2 sensors? At anyrate... it SHOULD be fixed with all that being changed. Like I said, just trying to get it back to factory performance, so let me know what you think about how a bad TPS would contribute to that acceleration issue.
Thanks

A bad Tps whould cause the car to be pretty much un-driveable.

When mine went, usually starting from a stop and randomly driving the car would die for a sec or 2.

But you should check to see what type it is. Kefico, or dea-sung.

It's a Kefico. I gathered from other posts that if it was Kefico, it should be replaced. But my car hasn't had any problems dieing, just no power 0-40, then it's pretty good from 40-70. Should I test it in some way, orrrr... nothing?

my car has been sputtering/bogging at low rpms. no check engine lights at all.

i've replaced the exhaust mani(old one was cracked which i thought was causing the bogging) along with a new pre-cat.
problem not solved.

took out the injen cai, cleaned the filter, piping and t/b.
problem not solved.

so now, im going to try and replace the tps sensor...
which is the good sensor to get??????

if that doesnt work, im looking at either replacing the maf or 2nd catalytic converter.

Keifco....... do the wiggle test on your current tps. Or also hit it with a screw driver.... if the idle changes replace with a keifco tps.

Check for a vacuum leak between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. The rubber elbow on my car had developed a hairline crack creating similar symptoms like you described including an SES for the o2 sensor even though the o2 was fine.

i changed the plugs and wires. and the bogging/hesitation went away for now. ngk iridiums and ngk wires.
im thinking it was the wires cause i've changed the plugs before but it didnt solve anything.

to change the longest wire, i had to loosen up the injen cai. everything was good from the maf to the t/b. so no leaks there.

about the TPS, is it true that the Mobis brand is the same as the Kefico??
just something to keep in mind if the bogging comes back.
