just wanted to check and make sure that the flywheel is the same for a 97 1.8, the motor i was looking at is from a 2000 with an automatic transmission and was wondering if it would work fine with the 1.8 flywheel. And was wondering if the flywheel would be the same in the 1.8 and the 2.0 and be able to counterswap them without replacing new.

there was a change in the crank's and flywheels in june of 2000. The flywheel might work, it might not. It all depends on when the engine was made/when the car was made.
What's wrong with your flywheel that you can't reuse it?

Come on Random.. read the post. He has an engine from an AUTO tibby that he wants to drop into his MANUAL transmission car. AUTO's don't use flywheels, they use "flexplates".
Personally, if the flywheel does not fit, now is the perfect time to spend the money on a lightened flywheel.

four cylinder.. whatever you want to call it. But yeah,my clutch is gone on my car with 134k miles. And i need a new motor anyways, so i was going to get one with about 20k on it but it is auto, so i just wanted to make sure i could throw my manual transmission onto the auto motor with out any problems. And my current flywheel should be in good shape still tho. Thanks

According to Shaddoh, he's running a 1.8L Flywheel in a 2.0.
It's like 6 pounds lighter.
Somewhat of a OEM Lightweight Flywheel. If you want to use it with your 2.0 though you may need a adapter plate, or so he told me some time back.
But from what I know, I agree with Random, it should work fine.
