as Anyone ever flirted with the idea of stroking the 2.0L ?

i was thinking about those old 4g63 they have in the old talon/eclipse/laser ..... to stroke there engine DSM guys use the crank from a old sonata 2.4L .....

so i was thinking sonata still has a 2.4L is that engine similar to our ? if it would..... could the crank be used to stroke our engine to get 2.3L like they do in the DSM

or is it just a crazy idea and would never work sadly sad.gif Eyecrazy.gif

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong....

I think that it would be very impracticle to try and stroke a beta 2.0L since we have zero clearence engines. Meaning that when the piston comes up it almost touches the head. And I can't think of anything you could do to lift the head enough to compensate for the added stroke length.

Like I said someone correct me if I'm wrong. That's just what I've heard.

What is with folks and the search function?

Does it not work for others?

Stroking has been covered, go search, read, then post new questions.

its actually not a bad idea at all. i had written rpw (the only place i know of with stroker kits for us) and I did get a reply:

Hello, I am interested in the stroker kit for the Hyundai Tiburon model
year 2001. I am looking for around 8.5:1 compression ratio. I would like to
know anything there is to know about the kit including price and
availability. Thanks in advance.

We can make a custom stroker kit yes which we have done before with billet
conrods, modified crankshaft in combination with overboring the engine, we
can get it out to 2.20 litre.
Approx price for a package like this is around $4000.00

-not sure on the site off hand but a search will let you find the link to the site, its not listed so you need to contact them
