Hello again everyone,
I have recently purchased a brand new set of the old Shark Racing Hi-Cams and was wondering what the specs were on them.
I have heard everything from 262 to 272 duration, and was just wondering if anyone here knew.
Viper said he measured the lift and came up with .360 (9.14mm), so that I know for a fact to be true.
I will be running these with an SAFC II and a wideband with datalogging; and maybe in the near future a DIS II for ignition timing. Any ideas on gains? I already have an AEM intake, 65mm TB, Airram IM, phenolic spacers (outlaw), HVE 4-1 header, 2.5" cat-back w/high flow cat, nology hotwires and plugs, adjustable cam gear, and power pulleys. I have heard anywhere from 20-30 whp. I figure since I have basically every supporting bolt on mod I should see some kick a$$ gains. Any ideas here would also be appreciated.
How do these compare to stock 98 tiburon 2.0L cams?
Anyway, if anyone knows anything about these cams please chime in and let me know.
Thanks in advance for any help guys. smile.gif

I heard those Hi Cams were by far the best N/A mods for some people.
I dont think those numbers are accurate though. I think 12-15whp is more accurate.
Once BBTB/Airram go in, without a doubt I'll be getting some cams, cam gear, and some tuning done.

rev limiter will own you
bottom line those cams LOVE being in between 5k and 7.5k ask madjohn
oh and high comp pistons and a good tune will get you better hp gains NA than most bolt ons combined

LOL. Well, sdashia supposedly has these and says they kick a$$. He also tells me that the duration is 268 for intake and exhaust.
Damn, I gotta figure out a way to raise the rev limiter (gonna have to contact airborne). I suppose I should finally do that cyl. head buildup with new valve springs and a good, flowed, port matched P&P job. cool.gif
Airborne said that with just the INTAKE cam at 242 degrees of duration gains would be at 15-25 whp, so these should give me 20-25 or possibly (I'm dreaming lol) 30 with a good tune (as best I can do with an SAFC and wideband, lol). Keep in mind I have damn near every bolt on mod you can get. wink1.gif
I remember seeing the dyno for the 272's and they were like 40 hp above the stock pull, so I don't think 25 whp is out of reach here, but then again, maybe I AM dreaming. But one can hope.
I would LOVE to get on a dyno, I will have to contact some of the people I know that have been on one locally to find out where a good dyno is located around here.
Thanks for so many replies, keep em coming. smile.gif
