Default SR-GT Cam

I just got my GT Cam and I went to the dealer, I know one of the head mechanics over there and he told me to do the following steps :

1- Remove all the spark plugs & turn the engine manually 4 turns or more to check for the resistance.

2- Check the engine compression with gauge before & after he said it normally be 12Kg/Cm and maximum 15kg/cm after installing Cam for the engine to be fine.

3-Check for any back pressure from inlet side(Throttle Body) before & after the Cam change.

4-Check delay in starting.

5-check for abnormal engine noise or knocking at different engine Rpms.

Now a question for all the members who did that modification did you do all this? Is it necessary to do compression test?

Thanks,
Coupe

That mechanic is covering his a$$, just incase you screw up. I have done this mods and it was very simple, just make sure you place cylinder #1 on TDC to make the use of the timing marks on the cam sproket when install new GT cams. This is a proven mod that works, I noticed a louder intake noise when the engine is reved, I suggest that you have at least a cold air intake to make maximum uses of the GT cam.

the piston is all the way up, directly at the top of its stroke. Rod is as straight up as it gets.

Does it matter what stroke the cylinder is on or just tdc?

Check out www.hmaservice.com There is info on there on how to replace the cams, and how to find TDC.

Ok so acording to HMA since i don't have a camshaft oil seal installer or even know how to place a new timing belt on. i shouldn't screw around with it and just take it to a shop if i want this... (daily driver) And here everyone was telling me it was easy.

As far as I know you don't need to do those things unless you change the EXHAUST cam. You are doing the intake only. Brendan has a how to on his site.
