Whats the stock stall speed on the Tib auto? Like 2500ish? You could probably go to 3500ish without getting into any major problems with a daily driver.

Since I can't get rid of this stupid auto idea in your head, I might as well give you some advice. lmao.gif

Ham, if the TQ converters do what they say they will, even I am starting to think it sounds like a good idea..much cheaper and a LOT less work than swapping to a manual, and if the numbers are very close...then the only thing you're missing is the fun of shifting gears, which, for saving about $700 and a lot of work is something I could live with.

Every car reacts different, but a high stall torque convertor and a tranny cooler would put an automatic about even (maybe a little less) with a stock manual tranny. Of course if you beef up the clutch\flywheel assembly on the manual (bout the same as prices for a torque convertor and cooler) the manual will haul ass over the automatic.

As I don't own an automatic Tib, I can't say how the internals of an automatic Tib will react to the extra stress. I guess thats where its really up in the air. Care to be a guinea pig? lmao.gif

This thread is starting to make me debate whether I want to save $500 for a torque converter and tranny cooler, or save about $1000 and do the swap.

Even with the tranny cooler you will be putting a lot of stress on your tranny and god only knows how long it will last...

I say do the swap because:

1. No fun shifting
2. No control over the car, it drives you
3. Worse gas milage
4. Still slower than MT

Enough reasons?

Have some followers, do I? joke.gif

Well, this is my route to take. It may not be yours but eh, I dont care.tongue.gif I guess saying that I'm a guinea pig is actually sort of right. However, this is a step to great acheivement for our autos!

TQ is pricey, but it is an amazing investment. My low-end needs more pick up, and TQ is what's going to make it haul ass over any other automatic.

I remember someone saying something about how TQ will kill your gas mileage, while in fact they're the opposite for your daily driver. You see, the TQ also HELPS fuel economy, since less throttle is required to keep the car at a constant speed.
