Speaking of bushings, the shift cable bushings at the tranny are another casue for some play, or lack of precision when shifting. I originally made a mold of the stock ones using liquid latex, and then made some out of urethane, but they fit loosely, probably because my stock ones were worn. So I followed someone else's advice on this forum and used quicksteel. That stuff is awesome and ridiculously easy to work with. Like putty. And great results.

I applied a thin coating of anti-seize before pressing in the quicksteel, so that I can easily remove it should I ever need to.
