so I found a set of cams forsale in my town......this guy bought theses cams on ebay and never used them in his car and wants to sell them because he got rid of his tiburon.

so this is the scoop..they are a factory regrind done by Mech Cycle no spec's for the new regrind duration they still have the stock lift. Im guessing someone on one of these tiburon/Hyundai sites sold these cams on ebay...I just want to know the spec's and if they are lagit befor I buy them any help would be greatly apreceated

thanks

If they still have the same lift as stock, then they aren't worth it...

I would stay away from them. There is no way to keep factory lift and add duration to a regrind. Think of it this way.. take your stock cam.. to add duration, you need to fatten up the lobe and make ramps steeper.. to do this with a regrind you either need to weld metal onto it or grind away the original lob till it looks like that theoretical fattened one.

On a chevy 350, you can add different rockers to make up the difference. On a beta2, you can add thicker shims.. on our cars? You had better hope that the hydraulic lifters can make up the difference between the lift of the original cam and the smaller of the regrind.

Regrind rarely last as long as new grinds too.. often they are not heattreated for durability

That's exactly what I was going to say. There is no way to make a cam sportier by regrinding it (at least no way to do it RIGHT), because you would have to have more material on the cam to actually make it with more duration or lift, that's assuming you want NA cams.

If you want turbo cams, well, it might work by reducing the time on the intake cam, but I don't know how the specs would go on that.
