Default Red ECU 17% Rich?

I heard before in a previous post that you had done the S-AFC before and found it running rich in the top end? I got a 2nd Gen on S-AFC on the way, I think I am running rich too as it sits now. What do you think of the stock ECU's ability to judge?

the stock ecu is PROGRAMMED to be rich to prevent knocks and future problems. The s-afc compensates for that and controlls it.

if you run lean all the time, you risk detonation. Which can cause (of many things) stress fractures in the block and untold amount of crap to your pistons and rings, smack your girlfriend around and molest your dog.

Just remember, too lean= bad. Too rich=bad. Too rich will cause your cat to clog and all your sensor's will go bonkers and will also probably insult your momma.

So if your going to get a s-afc, get it tuned properly by a professional. I tried tuning it myself for a day and ran into problems. And my exhaust smelt funny for a couple days. wink
