My 2000 tib decides when to goto into overdrive from I can tell anyways. Here is the prob if I drive for about 25 minutes going 65-80 then the car jumps into through by itself, as if the overdrive has been turned off. If I put the car into neutral then turn the car off then restart it will act right for 25 more minutes. BTW it is an automatic.
Any suggestions? maybe an O/D module? or the tranny computer?

well when i drive and i give it a lil more gas, the rpm jumps and its revvs alot higher. I think its when your torque converter sense that you need more power and it sprays more atf inside. This is what i think but i could be wrong.

how many miles?
has the tranny ever been serviced?
have you heard about the AT Hyundai recall regarding a solenoid?

after it does that, does it get "stuck" in that gear?
what happens if it does this and you manually turn OD off and ON?
if you punch it will it downshift more and then shift normally?

we need more info.

72k

Yes, it has been serviced once.

No, I have not heard about the recall(what year is it) and will they fix it for free even tho' I am not the original buyer??

Yes when it downshifts it gets stuck, I then have to put the car in neutral and cut the car off then back on and it is then good for about another 30 minutes or so.

Messing with the O/D button does nothing

im assuming your not on cruise control when this happens....
but if you let the car slow down will it downshift to the next lower gear??
and then shift up if you increase speed and decrease load??
