97-00 Elantra 1.8L and 2.0L Speed VS RPM

97-98 1.8L Tiburon Speed VS RPM

97-00 Tiburon 2.0L Speed VS RPM

01+ Elantra XD 2.0L Speed vs RPM

03+ Tiburon (gen3) 2.0L 5-Speed

Now... .all of these are adjusted for the tire sizes that come on the cars. The gen1/gen2 tiburon has smaller tires than the Elantra RD or XD, and smaller tires than the GK. If you reddid these speed/vs/RPM calculations using the Tiburon's standard 195-55-R15 tires, you'd get different results than what's above.

For those that are interested...Here's the math to build your own charts.
rpm=336*axle ratio*trans ratio*mph*tire diameter
Tire Diameter - this should be effective diameter, which is distance between the ground and the center of the hub multiplied by 2
axle ratio = Final Drive

Or email me and I'll send you the excel spreadsheets that have the above data on them....

BTW folks.... I'm not sure that the HMA Service data is 100% accurate. I'm going to re-check everything, as it's been a few years since I made these up, maybe HMA has gotten on the ball and fixed their website to reflect more accurate data. I'll be fixing these friday at work. So look for an update mid-day.

Also, if folks demand...I'll redo them using the stock tibby tire size of 195-55 R15 so you can see the differences you would personally experience.

now, i know you said they have to be adjusted for tire size, but it looks to me that the elantra tranny tops out SOONER than the tib tranny? i thought the elantra was supposed to be geared longer, so wouldn't it top out at a higher speed?

If you look at the Elantra, it is running lower RPM's at 75-80mph, but tops out sooner due to the way the ratio's work.

Radom,

Write this up again nice and neat once you have all your facts and figures to your satisfaction, put it in a new thread, and I will make it a sticky. This is GOOD information and I want your name on it so people will thank you for it, not me.

Don't get too excited. Some of the Facts/figures are wrong.

Let me do up a corrected Excel Spreadsheet, then I'll email that to you, and you can put that into a sticky.
