Well the tiburon tranny will get you the same thing as you have know, but the elantra tranny by the sounds of it gives you a little better MPG on the highway due to 5th gear. Plus that one onlt has 7K on it too. wink1.gif

I would stick with a Tiburon tranny because of it's sporty gear ratio's. Yes on the Elentra you will save gas with 5th gear, but you don't drive an Elentra, you drive a Tiburon for its sportiness right? If you pop an Elentra tranny in you'll feel like a granny driving down the road.

haha with all the people here that drive elantras here you haven't gotten any flack yet. if the only thing diffrent is the 4th and 5th gear, i might could live with that i drive 50 miles a day in 5th(with gas prices here 2.30+), when i think of sporty i think 1-4 but i see your point about stay with all tiburon stuff though

You'd be sitting at about 4300 @ 80mph. The 1.8L is geared higher in 5th than the 2.0L. (hence the LOWER MILEAGE)
If you want to lower the RPM's at freeway speeds look into an Elantra Tranny.

Maybe I was wrong, tanc may have a point. The 1.8 and 2.0 gearing is the same except for 5th. The elantra tranny would be better for fuel mileage. The gearing won't be that different will it?

well.. if you are boosted, the Elantra tranny might be just the ticket. The longer ratios would allow you to build more boost between shifts. Plus you should also have the power to overcome the numerically lower ratios.
