Hello ladies and gentlemen wink1.gif
I'm really pissed off after tonight testing... my car was running 16.01 to 16.30 with only CAI and custum exhaust and now after the 1.8 cam swap, port & polish intake manifold the car is running 16.47 or higher ?!? I was also racing alfa romeo 166 2.4 jtd with bigger turbo ( around 190hp ) before these updates he was 2 cars behind me and now we are running nose to nose ... WTF ??? Do you think i need chip tuning for the 1.8 cam? Any ideas ? I'm f#$%ing lost...
Thanx in advance

Ok well if you havent read any of the info, there really isnt any gains on doing the 1.8l cam swap. Its soo minor you wouldent really notice it.

Im not sure about your P&p im.

Are those times drag times? or AFR numbers?

There are piggybacks and standalones available for our cars, which could help tune it better but if your not heavily moded theres no point.

Unless you did something that required cutting apart and welding together, 'porting and polishing' a stock intake manifold *may* be counterproductive. There are gains to be had there, but a gasket-match isn't the way to get them.

Did you give it three drive cycles to get all happy with the new whatever was going on, or did you go *ahem* to the track the same day as the changes were made?

Those 2 mods, do nothing noticeable.

There are so many variables that effect e/t and time that the conditions have to be the same in order to cut the same time.

Maybe it was your driving.
Maybe you didnt reset the ecu.
Maybe you should check timing
Maybe you should check overall condition of the motor.

First thanx for the answers wink1.gif
I obviously agree that these mods do nothing !
My driving was ok ( 4-5 runs ) and all the same, the ecu is reseted and i've been driving like a granny for 400km (250miles ) after i swapped the cam. The timing is ok and the motor is in very good condition. I also found out that in third gear after 4500-5000rpm the car is not acclerating normally...
I will chip it very soon and hopefully there will be any difference. blowup.gif

i'm having the exact same problem, only with the 1.8 cam swap though. Especially how you describe your 3rd gear pull, when i was at the track after about 5k it was barely pulling and i have no idea whats wrong...

So at least I'm not the only one smile.gif Everybody was telling me to do this mod " very good mod", "the best for the money"... and now " u should know there isn't any gains", "do nothing noticeable" and so on owned.gif
I hope after the chip tuning it will run at least like before mad.gif

Well you guys did something wrong.... I had a noticeable increase in power. Wasn't major but I did notice a difference.
