No More Cotton/gauze(k&n Style) Air Filters For Me

These test results are fairly hard to dispute. Sure, the Cotton/Gauze type filters have a lower restriction initally, but they clog up faster, and allow more dirt in compared to paper filters.
I think I'll be sticking with paper from now on.
Looks like i'll have to design a new Random Special CAI to use paper filters somehow.

So the best thing would be to have an airbox with a cold air tube running to it? I have seen stuff like that before, just thought it wasn't as good as a straight up CAI.

From the review, they were only testing "drop in" panel filters, not "cone" filters.
However, I don't think the "cone" style K&N's are going to fare any better than the "drop in" replacements in "dust catching" ability.
Maybe this guy was onto something good! lol.gif

When I make something, it sure won't look like that, but I'll come up with something.

That's an interesting study..there's one thing that nags me about this study however. What coincidence that the AC Delco air filter did the best on a GM truck. AC Delco is a division of GM. One of the individuals who performed the test was even stated as being a GM Diesel enthusiast. I know it's an indpendant test, but I'm not 100% sold on this. maybe if there were other tests done on different vehicles in conjunction to this that led to the same conclusion, then I would be sold on it. Unfortuntely, this test was done solely to determine what was the best airfilter for a GM Duramax Diesel.
