Like Red stated above. 2.2 to 2.3L overbore. Quad Throttle bodies, Stand Alone ECU, High Compression pistions (12:1 to 14:1). Crazy lumpy cams (2000 RPM idle), 104 Octane race gas (or higher octane). Tuned equal length 4-1 header. Lightweight flywheel, lightweight valves/springs/retainers, ported head.

It will give you horrible driveability except at full throttle. Gas mileage will also be in the high single digits to low teens.

In other words, its intended for use a a drag engine/setup only.

An engine in that mode would probably have a useable service life of about 10,000 miles too.

The full parts list to get a BETA motor into the 200+ whp mark normally aspirated would probably be close to $6,000. The unfortunate fact is, the labor cost will be twice that. Having the parts is less than half the battle; I could give you ALL the parts to build an Abrahms M1 tank, but unless you know how to put one together, those bazillions of pieces do you no good.

random, sorry about calling people who n/a tune their tibs dumb. i was more calling the concept dumb, which probably wasn't the best choice of words. i should have said "costy, with little results." smile.gif it's just that you can get so much more from a forced induction setup for the same amount of money, and that fi setup will have daily driver reliability. that's all. i've also realized how little potential there is from the beta engine with n/a mods.

well turb, i think the main reason the majority of the folks on this board are N/A still is because of $$$. it takes a lot of commitment and time and money to turbo/super a car that was not that way from the factory.
not too many of the tuners i know are interested in "full out" N/a setups. their story is, "i have an extra 150 bucks, and i want to improve my car's performance with it. i don't know when i'll have extra dough again, so i can't commit to a big FI project..." at this point they'll spend that cash on a CAI or headers or exhaust, or what have you, and call it a day. boom, their car is driveable, and has a little more power. not much, but as much as that little amount of spare cash could produce by itself. then later down the road, if they have more $ to spend, they get another bolt on. sure, over time they might spend 3500 in bolt ons, but turbos are for people who have that spare 3500 NOW, and know they'll be capable of maintaining it. (i'm glad i'm one of them) wink

sharkey, you're right. however, all of those people (including me) need to put that $150 in the bank or a shoebox or whatever and save for the all-elusive turbo. the rewards are much greater, but i can't blame or flame other people. i like instant gratification, just like the majority of us.

You might be able to fit the turret onto your coupe, but how are you going to make the little Hyundai chassis hold up the 3,000kg gun you just slapped up there?

I'm assuming for left and right hand turns you just swing the gun the oppisite direction you want to turn and fire? Braking would point the gun foward and fire? rolleyes.gif

Come on folks, we all know that the Tib frame cannot hold the weight of a M1, M1A1, or M1A2 turret. The turret alone weighs in at about 20 tons, and is MUCH larger than the entire Tib!!

wink

On another note, it's amazing that the M1 can run up to 120 MPH with the governors removed eh? Reach out and touch someone 3 miles away at 120 MPH?

Watch out IRAQ!
