Default My Experience installing the timming belt.

Hey Guys. Let me start by saying the 1.5L Engine is one of the most easiest engines I have worked on. It took me 4 hours to compleate. I installed Timming, Drive, and A/C belts.

Took it slow, just incase I needed to run and get some diffrent tools from the Auto Store. Well the hardest bolt I had to take off was the Crank Pully bolt. But after soaking it with WD40 and using a impact wrench the bolt came loose. The best thing was, I DIDN'T NEED A PULLER TO GET THE THING OFF. After I loosen the bolt, the pully just fell into my lap. eek!

I was like, Cool. Now I didn't have to do anymore cussing. If you have an Accent with a 1.5L, be glad. Changing my Timming belt just saved me $200+ dollars. wink Lots of room to work in. Any questions about changing belts, I will be able to help out now.

If you could, and if you have time, please type up a "step by step" with what you did. (order of removal and all that).

Damn I have no freaking clue. I must have had a brain fart the day I wrote that.

Just ignore it.

It's an easy job as long as you pay attention to what you're doing. A timing belt to me is a peice of cake after what I've gone thru on this car, so I'm probably not the best judge of how easy the job would be.

After taking the transmission apart on my KX I'm fairly confident I could tackle the manual trans in my car... that's about the only uncharted territory for me.
