Default Muffler fit question...

Quick... does anyone know if a muffler with the following dimensions will fit a 2001 Tiburon?

Inlet Diameter:2 1/4"
Outlet Diameter: 4"
Body: 14 1/2"
Overall: 23 1/4
Cross Section: 6" round
Tip Length: 2 3/4"

Thanks for any help!

I'm pretty sure your inlet on that muffler is gonna be too big. As far as the shape of it most universal mufflers will fit any car. You may need to move around the mounting brackets but the muffler itself should fit. I don't know exactly the diameter of the stock piping but I think it's pretty small. You should really get custom piping done to match up with the muffler. Don't be one of those guys who hacks off his old exhaust and puts a new one on with pipe clamps.

2.25" inlet sounds like it would match stock to me.

Nope...I believe the stock piping on a Tib is either around 1.75" or 2". Can't quite remember right now. But yeah...like FastShark said....if you get a muffler...save up and spend the money to get custom piping done. If you're running with no headers or boost..then 2.25" is perfect. You can go to any muffler shop like Midas or Monroe and have them throw on some pipes for ya. Should run ya between 100 and 150 for everything installed. If you end plan on getting headers, then wait to get them, and then go get pipes installed. You'll want 2.5" then. Good luck! wink.gif

yeah, got it for $81 from some import tuning business in Ohio.

The muffler's big-ass nature will hopefully complement my rice-ride. smile.gif smile.gif
