Monster tach
#12
You have to set your tach setting to an 8 cylinder because all Hyundai's have a Waste spark System, which means that when cylinder no. 1 is on power stroke, cyl. no. 4 is on exhaust stroke, both spark plugs are being fired, because they are on the same circuit therefore there will be 2 sparks per complete 4 stroke cycle and if your tach is set for 4 cylinder it will read twice as high.
Theres 3 wires,... so you have a 33% chance of getting it right,... try the middle wire though first
i have a hunch that one is it
i hope that helps

If you are going to get the signal from the coil then you would need a tach that can read 2 cylinders. Otherwise you will have to splice into pin 47 in your ecu or splice from the tach signal from your dash.

look,... one wire will read for a 2 cyl the other will read for an 8
since they dont make 2 cyl cars,... tachs are usually are compatible with 4,6, and 8 cyl engine
He has to get the right wire (2 to chose from) and program it for an 8 cyl engine
wink

I just got a monster tach and i spliced it into the factory tach but i t does not give a true reading. Its about 1k rpms off from the stock one. I called autometer and they said i have to connect it to the coil pack with either the brown w/red stipe wire or the blue w/ yellow stripe wire. Is this true?? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

its one of the wires in the coil pack
Our cars have a dual coil ignition with no ground (it grounds onto itself)
