Korean spec Tiburon
#1
I'm not sure where else to put this, so here goes. I have just purchased a 2001 Tiburon a couple of weeks ago here in South Korea. I am an American civilian contractor, and I'm wondering if it is worth shipping this car back to the states when I leave here. My question is, what do I have to buy/replace on this car to make it street legal in the US?
It has a 1.8 liter with a CAI and has been lowered already by the previous owner. If it is worth bringing back, I might just buy myself a bigger motor, turbo, and nitrous.
Thank you for your support.

Wait a sec, where are you at in S. Korea?
What color is it and where did you get it at?
When are you coming back?

I'm working at Camp Page in Chunchon
Bought the car at a used car dealership between Songtan and Pyontaek
It was owned by a Korean guy, and the car is a light silver
Not sure when I'm going back to the states. But if it's worth fixing up, I was going to bring it to Inchon to that speed shop down there. Buy a 2.0 and have bored out, and put the bigger cylinder head on. Then worry about a turbo and nitrous later. I'm more old school when it comes to cars. Never worked with ECU's or fuel mangement systems, stuff like that.
This is what I have in the states
So tell me what I need to do to this Tiburon over here guys!
I know I need a new windshield, new exhaust system, anything else? Do they have the wiring harness for the American spec exhaust installed in the Korean spec cars? I read where they have two connectors for the American cars, and only one for the Korean cars.

How much did you pay for the Tiburon? you could find a used one here well under $9,000. Some people have been selling their tiburons already turbo'd for around $8,000-$10,000.
I've heard it can cost near $4,000 just to have a vehicle imported, then have to have it pass emissions testing. I talked with a guy who imported a 1992 Skyline and paid $4,000 to have it delivered to his house, and was quoted a price of $17,000 to have it meet US Emissions standards
