knock sensor placement (strut bar install)
I had to relocate the knock sensor to install my front strut bar (a topic which I know has been covered) but here's my question: I kept the front of the sensor pointing the same direction, but had to rotate it 90 degrees. Will that rotation have any negative effect? Here's a pic:

Right, right, the front of the unit is still pointing in the same direction that it originally was, but essentially "rolled" 90 degrees like so:
Will that kind of placement affect its operation?

what kind of problems? well if you rotate it 90degree's your car won't know when you've hit something head-on or from the rear. Sooooo you airbags won't deploy. And depending on your beleifs on airbags, bag things could happen. Its usually a bad-idea to mod anything that pertains to the passenger safety.
I went with the SR strut desgin. This allows you to keep the shock sensor in the same position with little bending.

I don't know how to say this any other way. The unit is pointing in the *exact* same direction as it was before I moved it. If I'm standing up and facing north, and I then lay down on my side, I'm still facing the same direction, right? Please, will somebody understand what I'm asking here? The sensor is facing the same direction it was, only now it's "on its side," if you will.

The knock sensor is there not for airbag purposes. It is there so the ecu will not think that there is a knock in the engine when going over bumps.
It is also just a knock sensor aid. The real knock sensor is on the block. This sensor like i said is there so the car will not mistake a bump in the road as a knock in the engine.

W??? p_j where did you hear that? It's the shock sensor for airbags!
the knock sensor is in the block! if an engine knock sensor were anywhere BUT the block it would be worthless.

90 degrees on it's side is NOT the exact same way it was pointing. It needs to be Mounted the EXACT SAME WAY 90 degree's, 180 degree's makes a difference. Mount it exactly the same as it was. do NOT rubber mount it. It must be mounted directly to the frame.
