Hey does anyone know what the muffler on Ixion Designs webpage is for. it is under the other gear category and looks like it might be a catback exhaust. Any info would be great.

It is the "BOMB" style muffler. You insert the muffle/blocker to lower noise and create back pressure for emissions tests and street driving (lower noise)

at the race track, you remove that muffle (as shown) and you basically have a straight through exhaust. Loud...but more top end.

 

Yeah i understood the bomb type muffler part but it looks as if it has extra piping like it might be a catback or rear section only. I was wondering if it was and what does it fit if it is.

That is what a "mid pipe". It connects from the muffer connection point just ahead of the rear axle and connects at the other end to the cat. That makes the whole system a cat back, or you can just get the muffler.
