Intake Air Box? What Is It?
#1
Hey I was surfing around and found this. What is it and does anyone have more pics of it?
-Edit-
I know it is on an RD2 whatever it is because you can see the head lights if that helps....

Looks like some type of short ram setup. It's hard to tell from the photo if it is a box around a cone filter or if there is a flat panel filter across the opening of the box.
Where did the picture come from?

Looks like it came from HDK's website.
Yuck.
ANyways, the Koreans (You'll notice no MAF sensor) have this disbelief of CAI's, they belive that shorter air paths are more powerful than COLDER air.
It's strange but true.
So, you see on almost ALL NA Korean tibs a filter right there next to the battery, and a big cardboard box around it covered in alluminium foil to reflect the heat, then a dryer hose running to the outside of the car with a trumpet neck on it.
No, I'm not kidding.
Anyways, that's what they belive.
I belive it makes for more restrictions and slower/turbulent air flow into the filter, and the box ends out acting like a oven.

NP mang. You'll see most of the pics of NA tibs over there with stuff like that.
That particular box looks like it MIGHT not have headlights in front of it though, making it a Psuedo Air Ram intake.
It also looks like it MIGHT have a panel filter at the front and a HELL of a velocity stack sorta built in by it's shape.
