I'm gettin a new tranny

My Tib has been making what sounds like engie ping, only it's not ping. Two weeks ago it was diagnosed as a miss in cylinder two, last week it was the clutch (which they replaced), I get a call today being informed that my transmission is replaced.
The whole situation pisses me of, mainly because of the time issue. I can't keep taking time off of work to drop off and pick up my car all the time. I got 4 cars, keep the damn thing until it's fixed right for all I care.
Anyhow, does anyone have a pinging sounds coming from their gen 2 Tib?
It's very distinct. It only happens between about 2000 RPM and 2800 RPM and only when the car is warm. It doesn't seem to do it under load, like when going up a hill, as long as I am above that RPM range. Plus, I can hear the engine ping over it.
Just curious if any gen 2 owners have had the same problem.

no problem like that here... and I've got 58,000 on it. I say take it to a dealership (or have you already)? Don't trust people with Hyundai's... they'll assume it's just a crappy car and say "oh it's just this... probably Hyundai's fault..."

Yeah, it's been at the dealership. No way in hell I'd pay for this. I'd sell the damn thing and get the STi.
There's a lot more to the story but I'm gonna wait until I get my car back before I jump to any conclusions. It has the potential to get nasty though.

Don't mind him... we forgot to give him his medicine.
I would take it to another dealership, do what you can to have the problem fixed if possible. If you take it somewhere else, give them a list of what was changed and inspected when they thought they were fixing the problem the first time. Do you currently have an automatic or manual?

Manual.........
I got the car back today....on the service receipt it says this is a typical noise with this transmission assembly!!!!!!! That's funny, I've never heard of another Tib owner having this problem. I bought a mechanics stethascope today and it does sound like it's coming from the transmission, near the block.
