I hope you are not saying that the 113 should be divided by (10*.03). If so, then the numbers used would indicate almost a 10,000 HP loss.

HP Loss from heat = 113 / 10 * .03 * (98 - 72)
HP Loss from heat = 113 / .3 * (98 - 72)
HP Loss from heat = 376.67 * (98 - 72)
HP Loss from heat = 367.67 * (26)
HP Loss from heat = 9793.33

Sorry dude. Your 7th grade math teacher is probably teaching 7th grade for a reason. tongue.gif j/k

hmm dude, you can't first can't divide 113/10.. you're suspose to work the paranthesis first (order of operations rule) then computate what's in the denominator of the fraction then divide the numerator by the denominator.
Geeez, now i sound like my math teacher in 7th grade. sorry dude! p [/QB]
The only problem is in determining what the denominator is. You assumed it was everything following the Division sign, I assumed it was the argument following it. All problems would be solved it all grade 7 teachers would teach us something more usefull than infix.

If we all knew prefix notation, there would have been no confusion if he had written either:
* / HP 10 * 0.03 - Temp 72
or
/ HP * 10 * 0.03 - Temp 72

or in postfix notation:
HP 10 / 0.03 Temp 72 - * *
or
H 10 0.03 T 72 - * * /

Unless I've made an error, there should be no ambiguity (sp?) and no need for order of operation rules...

Of course my grade 7 teacher did not teach me this notation, so it may be wrong. (don't get much chance to use this stuff ya know)

Of course since a1snag wasn't sure this was the formula we may be even more likely (if possible) to be wasting time with this topic smile.gif
