Hole in shortblock
Everybody take a field trip. Go outside to your Beta engine, and look at it. Focus your attention to the strip of the block that you can see above the heat shield, and look towards the right (air intake) side. You'll see a hole, about 1" in diameter.
Find it? Good.
What's it do?

You have found the first easter egg on our cars.
that hole is the same shape as the character that spells the name of the Korean engineer who designed the block casting.

Ah the empty spot that looks like something once bolted into it. Yeah I know that hole and your gonna love what I'm going to tell you ( it's also the truth ).
When the motor was first being designed remember Hyundai and mistu were partners and our beta is ALMOST a reversed swapped VR4, when they did the head they were not sure how it will be mounted into the car ( there was no tib then and no 2nd gen Elantra ) basically they finished the motor before the rest of the body and had the head cast to allow the accessory mounts to bolt in either side. They just never bothered to take it out of the production cast so it stayed ( NO it's not for the VCC or other alien devices ).
