Well I would like to rev a bit more, 8k rpm would be great. As of right now I have 164k miles on the engine so I am planning to rebuild it "real" soon but I want to rebuild it better than stock performance , this is my list of mods/items I am planning on getting to achieve my goal..

P&P Intake manifold
P&P throttle body
P&P Head
lightweight retainers
toga hp valves
stage 3 clutch
11 pound flywheel
1.8 camshaft swap
Intake manifold spacer
Throttle body spacer
4-2-1 headers
2.25" hi flow cat
4" muffler tip
Complete Gasket Set
Piston I am not sure, am thinking of maybe oem pistons, I want to boost my beta after re-build.....
Rods, again I am not sure....

Anything that I miss you guys can have an input. smile.gif

I would get Ferrea Springs and OS valves to rev it higher. Also, if you plan to boost ever, get the parts in there when its all apart.

Also, I would go with some better cams, possibly the regrinds to make some good power NA.

*Enough off topic. Putting "off topic" before you say it doesnt make it ok.

1.8 cams won't get you past 7200 effectively
yes it could rev up to 7200 but the engine won't make ANY power there
if you want to rev pass 8 k then you better have a VERY good set of cams

hmm I have heard more negative stories on regrinds than positive ones, I think I'll stick to the 1.8 camshaft. ok then 7k rpm redline is what I want then. am sorry I forgot to add to my mod list

lightweight crank pulley
OBX exhaust cam gear

I was also thinking of boring the block to a 2.2 but I have to search to get all the details for the process...

I doubt you will find an actual stroker kit in stock to bump it up to a 2.2l. Also, why not just stick with the 2.0l camshafts, they will still make power upwards of 7,500rpm. Outside of that, you will need some serious headwork and balancing of the long-block to get there.

I've got regrinds, had them in for over a year now, not one single problem.

There is a stroker kit out there. Cant remember if its 2.2 or 2.3. The company was in Australia or something. RPW was it? I cant remember off hand.
