i dont remeber who said this but i have had this happen to me. i bought a starter at avance auto and installed it on my old car (94 saturn) and the starter was bad right out of the box, i had it towed to the garage and put up on a lifft, the starter did the same thing it clicked (engaged to the flywheet) but did not turn over. if you can get to your starter and you dont belive that anything is wrong with the car (ie battery, cable connectios, charge) grab your favorate hammer and have someone turn to crank the moter and you can hear the click and then give it a nice solid whack on the top of the starter, if the starter is going bad this it may jar it lose enbough that you can then go ahead and get the car started. ONLY do this once or twice and ONLY do this if you have somenplace safte to do it at and support the car..(long story friend got injured doing something like this) its not the best thing to but ive heard and saw it in action and it does work. my may have gotten an unlucky starter

That used to work on my Humvees, it worked for awhile, till you could get it replaced.

Check that there's no corrosion between the terminals and connectors on the battery (use some emery paper to clean them all, even if they look OK).
Check the earth lead for the starter to the engine (it connects to 1 of the bolts holding the clutch housing to the block).
