Well I've had the heat wrap for a long time now. On Friday before I went out of town I wrapped the whole header down to the flex pipe and I must say....that stuff works wonders.

I honestly couldnt feel much of a difference driving but after running it for a while and going across town I opened up the hood and felt no heat. The little heat I did feel was coming from the fan. I could literally touch the header for a sec and it not burn.

I've heard from people saying it could mess up your header as far as looks but I don't care how it looks. Can't see a polished header anymore, just dark grey heat wrap.

Anyone else have any experience with heat wrapping their header?

Header wrap really does lower your underhood temps, but if not done properly (too much in one place, too little in another) it will eventually will thinner the walls of the headers and might even make holes.

Jet Hot does the same thing, but a little more expensive, but might be worth it in the long run.

I used it on my header for years. I painted mine black.

I thought it reduced temps greatly. Never had any problems.

Have it on my turbo down pipe right now. Planning on wraping all the intercooler and charge pipes too to keep charge temps down.

I'd say Ceramic coating is the popular vote here on RD my mang. Looks good and does a GREAT job keeping the engine bay cool.

I'm sure you know better than I do but wouldn't that actually reduce the intercooler piping's ability to dissipate heat?

you dont want any heat trasfer across the pipes because it will only be negative. the air around the pipes is much hotter than the air inside, and so you wrap it to keep excess heat from getting into the pipes. the intercooler is where you want all heat transfer to take place.

I was thinking about heat wrapping my CAI because there are lots of wires than run overtop of it, even though I have them safely covered by velcro.

You could TOUCH your header for a second and not feel the burn? That stuff must really work wonders.

Getting it ceramic coated is the best way to go. Not only will make the header look a lot better, but it won't cause any damage to it either.
