Ok, so I did a search and I found nothing...

I was wondering, what makes a good set of ground wires? I know the smaller the guage of wire the less resistance, and I haven't noticed that there are any differences in the sizes... so, I guess I what I was wondering was... what would be the difference in the grounding kits sold on KSpec as opposed to the set sold on Ebay?

Larger gauges have less resistance. 4 gauge has less resistance than 8.

The difference is probably in quality of wire. High quality wire is pure copper, oxygen free, and much smaller individual strands, which means better conductivity. One thing I have noticed is that more expensive wire tends to be much more flexible than the cheap stuff as well.

I'd go with a good brand of wire and build your own kit. That's what I'm doing. I'm using Streetwires 4 gauge with a 100 amp ANL fuse for the alternator to battery. 4 Gauge is more than large enough for our sub-100 amp alternators. For ground I bought a small distribution block with 4 gauge input and four 8 gauge outputs. You can also get terminals with multiple outputs built in, so you could run the ground wires right from the negative terminal.

I had one of the ebay kits and it was a shitty make. Everything would loosen all the time, I couldn't stand it.

I think the "Big 3 Wire Upgrade" uses 4 guage if you wanna follow that. Personally you can't really cheap out on wire, the good stuff, is the expensive stuff IMO.

**EDIT**

Look at the old european wiring on the older cars, that is the first thing they replaced. And with more expensive "American" wiring too. wink1.gif
