Goodyear Gatorback Belts . . . Are Poor
I bought new belts a couple years ago from a local parts house. Goodyear Gatorbacks, with little slits across them to reduce noise. The power steering belt was squealing within a couple weeks and wouldn't tighten enough to shut up. Lately the alternator/water pump belt was squealing, about halfway through its expected life. Glazed, worn, and slightly frayed like a regular belt might be in another 5 years. Also hard enough to hold the shape of the pulleys after it was removed, even after hanging for a day from a hook.
Fail.
I picked up a Hyundai 25212-23021 for $11.50 at the dealership. Lesson learned.

Not to hate, i have been running the same gator-back belt on a stock altenator pulley and Alumnium underdrive crank pulley for about 5 years now.... not a sound or any signs of it cracking...

I've never run a Gatorback on any of my Hyundais, but on other cars with serpentine belts I use Gatorback belts any time I can because of how good my luck has been. On the Hyundais, I had luck with Mileage Marker belts, or OEM. EVERYTHING else I've tried has slipped and just generally sucked.

Hmm I'm a little split on this because I was told gatorbacks are great so that's what I had put in, but the ps belt stretched (almost 1/2 an inch!)
within just 2 weeks after being put on. The other belts are just fine, so it's a crapshoot I'd say.
