Good oil weight
Hey guys,
Anyone know a good oil weight that would be good between the recommended stock weight and a good weight for a turbo car?
I'd like to start the transition of the oil now, so there's no residual old stuff in there when the turbo goes on.
thanks again (and I promise, no more questions tonight smile.gif )

Since summer is near and its hot you should use 15W 50 Mobil One Synthetic oil which is better.Im currently using Mobil 10W 30 Synthetic oil and my Oil Temp is up to 260 degress with my turbo.Im switching to 15W 50 by this week

I've heard of Hyundai techs using 20W-50 to keep the HLAs from ticking. Makes sense since i drop off 10 cases of it a week to the local Hyundai dealership.
2 weeks ago i decided to check it out, it being June already and we've had a few 90degree plus days. Takes a few minutes to warm up when i first start it but when it gets up to temp it purss like a kitten and likes the high revs.

Higher viscosity oil require more horsepower to pump. Unless your running an endurance race or extreme oil temps, 20w50 would not be required. When dealing with petrolium based oils, the wider the degree of viscosity change the faster the oil breaks down. 10w30 is about your best over all oil for everyday driving, unless you run an endurance race every morning to work.
