Gear Ratios

what about putting in a beta 2 5th gear? or would that not mesh witht eh rest of the trans? just thinking that would improve economy and solve the bit about our 5th gears biting the dust. This is all assuming that I'm not missing something, and we know what usually happens when one assumes

It has a page for autos & manuals, click the tabs @ the bottom of the screen. All the 1st gears in manuals are in the 3.x range. the 5ths on elantras & tiburons range from .778 to to .878. And 6th is mentioned for the GKs with MFA60 transmissions.
I'm not so sure about webtech sometimes. It seems like they have a nice little "feature" where the same specifications are copied/pasted for a few years that should show differences... as in, the stuff for 2000 shows up with the exact same numbers for 1998 (including cam specs) (at least on my computer)
The years, you get to figure out on your own, but you get a hint from the chassis code wink1.gif

I contacted Hyundai parts department here in my city today for information about the 5th gear swap.
P/N:43240-28031 Price: $71.50 Item description: 5th gear assembly
P/N:43384-28002 Price: $28.83 Synchro ring
These part numbers were superceded by the new 2001 5th gear. I hope to find another source.
