yeah finally got mine done. It was a PITA, had to go back to pep boys like 3 times. Ended up being a 24mm i think. So i had to fork out a 22bucks for the damn wrench.

later i found a adjustable one in my garage...go figures.

BTW...it is a 24mm bolt to drain out the gear oil.

Yeah thats the stuff "lucas oil stabalizer". I used 1 quart Castrol gear oil 75w90 and 1 quart Lucas Oil Stabalizer (as it recommends 50% LOS 50% gear oil for gear boxes) and to this day it shifts soooooooooooooooooo smooth. Good stuff. Too bad i bought a 2k3 tib, won't be driving my 1st gen anymore....trying to sell it.

what type of gear oil is castrol, i thought that it was the "bad-type".

castrol makes GL4 and GL5 gear oil. GL4 is the "safe" stuff.

does anybody have any info on the lucas stabalizer oil....is it any good....what does it do....?? i'm assuming that our tranny takes two quarts?

It takes 2.27 quarts from what I hear. The oil stabilizer is a petroleum additive that is supposed to protect your engine. The only reason I used it was i had only ordered 2 quarts of Redline. So i put half the bottle of the Lucas in to make up the difference.
