Default Frozen Intake...read!

After watching Getaway at Stockholm 2, (excellent vid, see if you can nab it off the net) I noticed that near the end of the movie, some guy has a fire extinguisher and begins to spray the front side of this guys car where the filter for his CAI is located, thus creating the ultimate cold air intake (in theory I guess). Anyways, I wanted to know if anyone tried this on their intake before. I realize that this is just a temporary fix to your CAI (possibly up to 5 minutes of a nice cold blast of air before it melts?). Also, if this works, than why not have a little fire extinguisher tank located somewhere in your car with a nozzle that freezes your CAI Filter, activated by some type of on/off "Naaawwwws" type switch? Let me know...

i posted this question before, while it is certainly doable it is only good for quick blasts down a 1/4 mile track or possibly an autoX run

Most fire extinguishers have compressed CO2 in them.. not what you need to feed your engine.

Or if you're really lucky you'll find a Halon extinguisher!

I suggest you guys find the right class extinguisher before you try this. With some luck you'll just end up spraying pressurized water all over your filter!

Between runs either AutoX or Drag many people pack their I/M and CAI with ice. Not in them but on them. For boosted cars that don't have/need water injection I have seen them put ice in the intercooler to help for short times.

What about some sort of tank that sprays the equivlent on "Hot Ice?", you know the stuff that you saw in psych experiments where it would freeze anything that it touched, or would that be liquid nitrogen?
