Default Fibreglass release bearing????

When I did my tranny swap recently, I noticed that the release bearing supplied to me by the dealer looked way different. For one, only the bearing and the circlip-mounting points were metal, everything else was different. It also was muuuch smaller. I bought a clutch kit for my '84 last year and it came with an all-steel, heavy looking release bearing. Just worried that the new one (that looks like it's made out of fibreglass) shatters on me when I dump the clutch. WTF is this ?

Plastic Pony Parts!

it's probably hi-tech. Don't worry about it unless you are really going to be making some uber-power.

eek! well in that case, let's whip out the billet steel and CNC machine!

I say run it until it blows, on a cheap clutch so you aren't out much money. If the clutch goes first, trust the plastic.
