The QTEC thing is definatly going to be a go...... I just have some questions...... what diameter cutoff do I need? And can I cause damage to my motor if I do run wide open?

you really DO NOT want to do this with the stock exhaust pipe. But if you are determined to do it with the stock pipe, the stock diameter is 2" for gen1 and gen2.

You won't see much/any of a gain by using the cutout and keeping the stock exhaust manifold/close coupled cat. Together they offer enough of a restriction that you won't see much/any gain from the cutout.

No, nothing 'bad' will happen. It's just a waste of money when you will not get any performance gain out of it, and the pipe diameter will be too small to be used later if/when you upgrade your exhaust with headers/cat back.
