Hey guys, so I was driving down the freeway last night with CC on and I look down at my temp gauge. Its at about 70% and rising, so I work my way over to get off the freeway and then it shoots up to Hot/Engine Turned itself off/All warning lights came on the dash, with smoke coming from the hood. I stopped it on the side of the freeway poped the hood and smoke just came pouring out.

Once it all settled I took a flashlight and started looking around. The burp bottle cap for the radiator fluid was blown off the bottle and laying beside it. Also the oil dipstick was pushed about 2-3inches out of its tube.

2000 Tiburon
60,241 Miles
Last oilchange 3,010 miles ago (Was todays chore...Checked last week lvl)
Aem Cai Intake
NGK Plugs/Wires

Once everything cooled down I looked in the Burp bottle and the fluid was very milky looking. Just from touching the fluid on surrounding parts of the engine it seems that its an oil/Coolant mix. Also oil lvls are low aswell.

Any ideas before I take my car to the dealership tomorrow morning? Would rather have a general idea of what has occured. Thankyou for your insight.

Ouch! Have you had any maintenance done on the engine lately, other than oil changes?

Just the general required maintance for the vehicle, Oil changes/filters etc. Still need the 60k mile maintenance done, was the plan to drop it off this week at the dealership.

Oh forgot to add in I use Mobil One Synthetic oil in my vehicle. But yes the Oil and Coolant are definately mixed. It seems pretty bad, friend say Head gasket, other said Water pump. But they said they don't know just a random guess. 02.gif

You are supposed to change your timing belt at 60K miles, so it is possible your belt went out.

Yes I am aware I have to change the timing belt at 60k miles and was planning on dropping it off at the dealer this week for the 60k req maintenance. And no Hamhead I myself am not the original owner, Is that the breakpoint for engine coverage through the warrenty 60k?

When you are the second owner all of warranties stop at 60K. You could possibly get it covered since it is barely over the 60K.

Any Suggestions on the approach, should I call all the dealerships within the local area, and let them know of the issue before I just bring it to one?
