first off, why would you buy an engine (with low miles) and have the whole thing re-built in the first place? why not add pistons, and replace the necessary parts (head gasket and such) and be done with it?

if you were to buy a motor with low miles, i would hope that the cylinders would be in good shape. get it honed, drop in pistons and you should be good to go.

Socks it seems obvious that the OP is or is planning to run boost and wants an engine that can take it. I hope a good shop is found, because this is an ideal situation for a shady machinist to juice what appears to be an ignorant customer.

stocker.. i know.. he 'has' boost. but if he got a low mileage motor, no reason to rebuild the entire thing.

And if the plan is to turn it up at some point down the road why not be ready for it? Heck if I had the space and money I'd build a second engine instead of working on the one in my car in a heartbeat.

because with pistons, your good for around 400hp... and since there have only been a few people to ever hit those numbers, it would probably be overkill and wasted $$.

^ True pistons, and porting the runners in the head make a good turbo motor!
