Engine Rebuild Cost?
In couple Months I’m planning to buy a newer engine and let someone rebuild it. I was thinking to replace the internals with wiseco pistons and pauter rods, I found someone in craigslist he is an ASE certified with 23 years experience. He gave me a quote of $1000.00 on labor to rebuilt and install the engine. Does this sound reasonable?

Do I need machine work to install new pistons and rod? What are the things that needs machine work, what else should I add/replace other than piston/rod Turboron just told me about 1mm oversized valve, what else should I add to my list?

Even if you plan on getting 82mm pistons you will still need to at least hone the block. Oversized pistons will require boring. Your going to need new bearings both main and rod. Polish the crankshaft, you could also knife-edge it and coat it if you wish. Also you could add ARP Main Studs. Definately balance the rotating assembly. The crankshaft first then the clutch then the crankshaft and the clutch together. Balance the crankshaft pulley. Get a High volume oil pump with a new pick up tube.
Cylinder Head
ARP Head Studs, Port and Polish, Oversized valves, seats, retainers and springs, camshafts, adjustable cam gears.

A Full Race Engine from me is around $5000. That includes all the parts, machine work, assembly and warranty. Usually if someone wants all that done at one time I usually give a pretty good discount.
