Hey Guys
I just went for a oil change today. The shop recommended Synthetic since I don't drive the car alot. The Car has 135km which is about 84,000 miles and has always had regular oil. They finished the oil change and I then drove to the Toronto Hyundai Meet which was 1hr away...Then stayed for a while and then drove back home. My car now knocks. I checked the dipstick and the oil is passed the F...Have they put too much oil in the engine? Is it knocking because they used Synthetic instead of regular oil?
Any Help is greatly appreciated

Knocking is a fuel issue isn't it?
If you are having a tapping from your lifters, it's usually a oil level/pressure problem. Get on a flat surface, give it some time to settle, and check your oil level. Also, supposedly some oil filters can cause this. See what oil filter they put in.

Hey, having problems with your engine knocking?
Try checking to see if you over filled the oil
Also, if thats not your problem.
Run the car for a few miles, and it should subside.
Thanks!

If what you have is a tapping noise from the top of the engine, and it doesn't go away after 15 minutes of LOW ENGINE SPEED (<3kRPM) driving, do this:
You need to go to the local Hyundai dealership and get an OEM oil filter and install it in place of the cheap one they put on at the shop that changed your oil.
Then never let anyone else change your oil. It's easy and takes 1/2hr.
Lower-than-OEM quality oil filters cause tapping in the hydraulic valve lash adjusters (HLAs) (they don't get enough oil to keep pumped up so they are loose in there). Long-term operation with this condition can cause engine damage.

I want to know what brand of oil filter that you used. There was a TSB on it, I'd like to know which one they're talking about.

Id be willing to bet its the oil filter. A little to much oil in it wont cause it to knock. To little oil will.
That being said, get an OEM filter on there asap or at least a good quality aftermarket one (Wix is very good and similar design as OEM)
I cut open an OEM filter at work one day and they are made extremely well. They are a little more pricey but its worth it. The quality is very good. I have a case of oil filters in my garage. With 5 Hyundais here, I know theyll get used.
