you either use a box wrench or a O2 sensor socket, loosen the o2 sensor from the exhaust and unhook the harness

It is a 22mm wrench, and if it is the rear o2 then you will need to unhook the plug inside the cabin behind the radio and then it will come out through the grommet in the floor.

I'm not sure where your at but it kinda looks like one of the air conditioning system lines or a brake line.

the wire you see is plugged into my exhaust after cat . the white piece with the prongs is part of the sensor that i pulled apart. you can see the bung. its an aftermarket cat.

ok. the rubber piece turned out to be a grommet, which i pulled out with a flat screwdriver. but the o2 plug-in piece is up in the hole and i cant pull it out. should the piece be coming out?

Did you pull the radio out and disconnect it from inside the car? Looks like no.

ok. i pretty much have everything figured out. thanks to tim and his "behind the radio" info. ive got the new o2 sensor plugged in now.
another question: if i dont screw my o2 sensor in the exhaust, will my car still run rich? can i just let it hang? atlantic canada winters + rusted like crazy+ no good tool = not coming off today.
