Well the finish of my car has been postponed yet again. My @ 134,000 miles my dad's Elantra threw me a big fat P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction.
I've also read if you change the sensor, you have to have a special scantool that will align your ignition much like a printer aligns ink. If ignition timing is not aligned, the engine will run poorly as a result. What kind of scan software is needed for this to be done?
Also is it possible that's not the actual problem? And if anyone's taken matters into their own hands, how difficult a job is it? Any pictures of where the actual sensor is located? I've read it's on the transmission just under the front of the block, but I've also heard it's in the back side.

it'S a common failure,
no need for a specia lscan tool to reste it..
simply swap in the new sensor, reset the ECU and enjoy the car again
(some GM car needed a special scan tool to reset the cam position sensor)
it's on the front of the engine,about in the middle right next to the tranny
it's located in the hole in this picture (middle of the pic,at your right)

thanks denisst99! it looks like it's a bit hard to take out because there isn't much space to work with. does it screw in or pop out?

on HMAservice it looks like it bolts in. there is a TSB on it regarding the O-Rings. Since you didn't post what year ill leave you up to go look for it. Seems like a simple job to change, just getting to it may be a problem.

its easier to use a wrench to get to it, I just changed mine, so make sure you have some paper towels handy bc the liquid will get all over everything when u pull it off. (doesnt come out, just on the sensor) If you have any ?'s pm me or post on here.

nah it'S actually easy to cange
a big 5 minutes job
nothing will leak from except maybee a few drops of oil that were on the sensor but nothing more
