Yeah Random, but you have a head spacer right?
Please re-read. BEFORE the TURBO. Since the install of the head spacer, it dropped another 5 psi each cylinder.

Any change in the connecting rods or pistons will lower the compression correct?
Only if you go SHORTER/deeper dish. Domed pistions and longer con rods would RAISE your compression ratio.

Ahh thanks, I missed that point... :-) How many miles were on your car before u threw on the turbo? Didnt you get a deal with a supercharger for $1300 awhile back?

I tested my car today....

205
215
215 hissing noise
220 hissing noise

now high compression marks can be from carbon build up.

I am also curious about the hissing noise. and even still I got a high mark.

My car does not pull as hard as some other tiburons and elantra I have been in.

I dont think its the manual tranny cause I see it as. Either it will work or not.

No the clutchis not slipping, I tested that in 2nd gear from 10 mph.

If it is because of the Double Offset axles from the automatic, maybe they have some sort of a damping in them? so when the auto shifts at 6k on hard accel the wheels do not spin?

If that is true, then ppl coudl just put the Triple Joints from the manual in their automatic and get a little boost in power. atleast it will fell better smile.gif

anyone have any comments on this?

I checked the brand new motor with 13 miles on it. With rings that haven't even seated yet and 9:1 pistons, I pulled around 172 on each cylinder, give or take...

At the same time, it was pulling about 14 inches of mercury at idle on my ghey little autometer vac/boost gauge.

Now at approximately 540 miles on the clock, it's pulling 19 inches at idle and it runs almost-stock once it's heated up (piston slap when cold is a beyotch )

Red, you should do another compression test. I am curious to see what it is at now with the rings properly seated smile.gif

The rings have not even worn in yet. You should be above 172 correct? Or did you change the con rods... Yah n/m you probably did lol. How does she rev up?
